We thought you'd be interested to know that the last week of February is the UK’s Eating Disorder Awareness Week #EDAW2019.

We are four students on placement with Derbyshire’s only Eating Disorder Charity, www.firststepsed.co.uk our award winning specialist community support mental health charity that provides care and support services to people of all ages and their families whose lives are impacted from eating difficulties and eating disorders.

We are from the Allied Health and Social Care and Psychology schools of the University and privileged to have a student placement with First Steps ED, gaining invaluable experience working alongside their dedicated team and volunteers providing mental health and eating disorder help to children as young as 8 and adults above 50 years old.  We are working on projects, carrying out research and shadowing peer support, groups and counselling sessions as part of our placement.

The Charity will be using #EDAW2019 during Monday 25th February to Sunday 3rd March to showcase the wealth of support available for Derbyshire alongside the important work they deliver in schools, colleges and other universities across the East Midlands and we would like to get our student population at the University of Derby to also become involved during Eating Disorder Awareness Week 2019.

We are planning a series of events and ways in which all students from all schools can get involved and help raise awareness, battle the stigma, and fundraise for First Steps ED.

If you can support in any way just get in touch!
