About us Staff Amy Hudson Amy is our Clinical Officer reporting to our Clinical Senior Responsible Officer, and has line management responsibility for Coordinator Intensive Community Support - Partnership with NHS Derbyshire Eating Disorders ServiceCoordinates our integrated working with NHS Derbyshire EDProvide one to one support to young peopleProvide a safe and confidential environment for young people to discuss their eating disordersFacilitate young person's support groupsDeliver Body Image Awareness within Schools/CommunityTo raise awareness and understanding of eating disordersPromote awareness of First Steps and the services they provideAmy started volunteering at First Steps in 2014 at the young person's support group and then as an online befriender. Amy is an 'expert by experience' in eating disorders and is passionate about raising awareness and reducing the stigma around eating disorders.Amy has a masters degree in Mental Health Nursing. As part of her degree she did placements in a range of mental health settings, which has given her experience of working with people who have a variety of mental health illnesses. Amy promoted awareness of eating disorders during her degree and her dissertation explored recovery rates in anorexia nervosa.Amy enjoys working with young people and has experience of this from volunteering at First Steps, doing placements during her degree and through being a swimming teacher. Amy is excited to start her new role at First Steps and be part of such a great team.
