About us Staff Sarah Buxton Key Accountabilities Care Co-ordinator: To work in conjunction with the First Steps Team, NHS Derbyshire Eating Disorder Service, the patient and other professionals to identify individual support needs and draw up a care plan to ensure a good quality outcome for service users. To deliver a specialist support programme within the community in partnership with NHS Derbyshire Eating Disorder team. To provide information and support to people of all ages affected by severe eating disorders referred to us by the specialist NHS eating disorder team. Dramatherapist Sarah is a fully qualified and registered Arts Psychotherapist (Dramatherapist). Dramatherapy is an arts based psychotherapy which uses other methods of exploration and expression alongside talking. This includes using creative approaches such as art, drama, movement, music and nonverbal work. The therapy is client centred and tailored appropriately to each individual. Sarah has several years’ experience working with eating disorders and other mental health issues. She is able to offer both individual and group therapy. Sarah also works with a variety of other difficulties within another organisation which enables her to bring additional knowledge and experience from into the therapy work at First Steps. Counselling Co-Ordinator & Supervisor Overseeing and organising trainee counsellor placements at First Steps. Managing client referrals and the counselling waiting list. Organising and facilitating client assessments and assigning to an appropriate counsellor for sessions. Conducting clinical supervision with trainee counsellors. Sarah is friendly and approachable and is passionate about celebrating each and every step, no matter how small, towards recovery. Sarah has a degree in Psychology and Counselling Studies, a Masters in an Arts Psychotherapy called Dramatherapy and Certificate in Supervision. Sarah is currently working towards her Diploma in Supervision to enhance her skills further. Sarah has gained valuable experience within mental health and around eating disorders over the past few years and continues to aspire to learn more. Sarah originally got involved with First Steps through volunteering on the befriending programme. Additionally, Sarah has experience of being a carer to someone with an Eating Disorder.
